Asteasu is a village located in the province and historical territory of Guipúzcoa, in the Basque Country autonomous community. In the middle of the 19th century it was called Astiasu, Astiázu or Asteazu.
Asteasu is very open, especially because of the width of the valley and the scarcely contrasted relief. The population is mainly in two urban areas: Elizmendi and Kalea. The village of Asteasu is quite rural.

Muskerraren Bidea: the Lizard Road
Muskerraren Bidea (“the Lizard Road”) is a pleasant 2 km long walk that runs through Asteasu and Obaba, the places of the writer in Basque language Bernardo Atxaga.
Pagoeta Natural Park
Pagoeta Natural Park has an area of more than 2800 ha, and its name is due to Mount Pagoeta, 678 m high. To discover the Natural Park, we recommend you to go to Iturraran Parketxea, where you will be informed about everything that can be visited in the Natural Park: museums, nature, historical heritage and hiking trails.
Hiking and MTB trails
Around the Otardi Hostel there are several hiking and mountain biking trails. We can inform you so that you can make the most of sport and nature with your family or friends while discovering the Asteasu area.

Bike lane: Villabona – Asteasu
This bike lane will take you on a route of just 10 km without slopes, perfect for families and groups to enjoy our surroundings calmly.
